Tomorrow when the war began reading log

A small group of friends plan to have the time of their lives.. A seven day trip, with all of the ups and downs a campout would typically have, friendships built, and a few romances too.Returning home a week later, they find that everything has changed. Everything and everyone they knew is gone, replaced instead with a foreign power in their lands, talking about a ‘peaceful invasion’, and no one seems to be able to do anything for them.

One character I found interesting was Ellie, Ellie was the main character in the film and also did the narrating. Ellie perspective on everything wasn’t just honest it was super detailed and thought through whether that be a task they needed completing or something they were risking ellie was always weighing up the positives and negatives. Personally I feel it is necessary to weigh up the positives and negatives in certain situations and have a detailed thought about it before committing.

One message I took from the novel was if you don’t take risks you may never be able to get out of the situation you are in. “the biggest risk is to take no risk. or to take crazy risks.” This is a quote said by Ellie. Personally I feel risks are something I take in life quite often as they can be fun to experiment with and test your luck. A risk can have a good or bad outcome and it’s all about how you react to that outcome.

One challenge the characters had to deal with was being able to hide away from the soldiers that had taken over their home, because they soldiers were taking over the town they started to take valuables and resources from people’s houses from themselves, the group had to maneuver around these soldiers to find the necessary goods they needed. These soldiers also had guns so they needed to be able to not be seen or they would get shot.

The title of the text is appropriate as it is a war that is taking place in there home town when they return from their camping trip. The tomorrow part being the day after they return from the trip.

I would recommend this book to all teenagers as it provides great life lessons on relationships and in general how to deal with certain life challenges
